The first prototype of the User interface has been intergrated into the customised first prototype of the FASTY system, that has served as test system for the first user verification phase. The purpose of the User Interface is to provide input and output facilities, to interact with the Language Component, and to support users in their effort to adjust the system to their individual needs.
The first prototype features input facilities for keyboard users. This include standard keyboards as well as keyboard emulating equipment.
The FASTY Drivers serve as interface between the operating system (OS) and the OS independent kernal of FASTY.

The FASTY system uses standard interfaces like keyboard interface, mouse interface, serial or parallel interfaces that humans use to enter data into a computer. The drivers to operate those interfaces are part of the particular used operating system.
